Howard Stewart is President/CEO of AGM Container Controls, a Tucson manufacturing company with 115 employees. AGM manufactures environmental control hardware for containers that transport missiles, engines and other sensitive equipment, as well as for the actual missiles and satellites themselves. AGM also manufactures the world’s premier wheelchair lift under the brand name “Ascension,” which provides access to stages and platforms in public and private facilities for individuals with disabilities.
In 2002, Howard was recognized as Tucson's Small Business Leader of the Year. In 2009, his company was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as "America's Best Small Business of the Year." In 2018, Howard was named Southern Arizona’s CEO of the Year.
In 2019, Howard chaired the Tucson Heart Ball for the American Heart Association, which, including matching dollars, raised over $1.7M for heart research and education in Tucson. For the year 2021, Howard will chair the Diaper Bank Gala. Howard currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Tucson as well as for the Pima Community College Foundation.
Howard recently founded an initiative called “Fly Tucson First,” whose mission it is to make Tucsonans realize that our local community significantly benefits whenever we fly from our own Tucson International Airport rather than in and out of Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. Howard is also a champion of providing college tuition reimbursement to EVERY AGM employee. In fact, as many as 26% of AGM’s employees attend college in any given year. Howard is available to make presentations on Fly Tucson First or on College Tuition Reimbursement.
